This award was established to honor the REALTOR® member who has demonstrated continued personal involvement and support to the Gainesville-Alachua County Association of REALTORS® and the real estate profession. Selection should be based on VOLUNTEERING at the Local, State, and National levels, ETHICS, and CHARACTER. James M. Parrish Community Leadership Award


 James M. Parrish Community Leadership Award

James M. Parrish, a man with integrity, high energy, and ability, was a leader among his peers. He was a voice in community debates over growth, development, and other sometimes divisive issues, yet a man with compassion for his community - one who saw the need to get involved and did. Along with a lengthy and distinguished involvement with the local, state, and national Association of Realtors, Jim also served as an officer and director for the Gainesville Jaycees and Historic Gainesville, Inc., as a director for the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, and as chairman for the Neighborhood Housing Service. He was a member of Sustainable Alachua County and the Council for Economic Outreach. He also served as an advisor director of First Union Bank and a member of the University of Florida Real Estate Advisory Board.

Presented to the Alachua County Resident who has made the greatest contribution to the local community through volunteer work, local involvement in business and community organizations, and in areas that benefit the community as a whole; one who has enhanced the quality of life for the citizens of Alachua County.

This award is based on the accomplishments/achievements during whatever span may be appropriate, one year or a lifetime.
